Wearing The Green
March 17th is the Wearing of the Green
Nothing celebrates St. Patrick’s Day, with all its festivities, as much as wearing the green. Ye’ll see more of the Irish green in that day than any other. There’s a reason for that and it’s this: On St. Patrick’s Day, everybody is a little bit Irish, no matter what their ethnic background. After all, Irish love to have fun, to frolic, and parade, and tell tall tales about leprechauns that make mischief. These are fun things for everyone, so what’s not to love about St. Patrick’s Day? But ye must be wearin’ the green to show ye’re celebratin,’ (and to keep from being pinched.) On this page I’ll show ye a few things ye might covet! Oh yeah, and the longer this story goes the more Irish I get, just warning ye!!
About the Pinch
There’s a custom going round, that on St. Patrick’s Day, if ye are not wearin’ the green, you’re subject to being pinched by someone who IS. Now I don’t know about you, but getting pinched isn’t exactly something I like, and I’d rather be wearing the green, than to receive that pinch. So how did the pinching tradition begin? It seems that if ye’re not wearin’ Irish green, the leprechauns and naughty fairies can see ye, and therefore wreak all sorts of mischief on ye, including pinching. So wear the green this year so they cannot see ye. Besides, no pinches means a good year coming on for ye.
What Do I Wear??
I’ve divided categories in these suggestions below; women’s clothing, men’s clothing, children’s clothing, hats and even doggie clothing, all with green. So what’s your choice? Be wise and order soon, because St. Patrick’s Day is the 17th of March and it’s approaching rapidly.
Here are my picks for women. Notice that some of the shirts have glitter. Who doesn’t love glitter? And the shoes, woohoo! Love the shoes!
Let’s not leave out the menfolk. They like to party too!
Don’t forget the kids. Boys and girls like to have a good time on St. Patrick’s Day too.
St. Patrick’s Day Hats are all the rage too. Think of all the folks you know who’d look fabulous in one.
Doggie Styles Are A Must for St. Patrick’s Day. How can you parade your pup without a proper costume?
