August 16, 2015: Today I’ve had the pleasure of looking at my first published book: Fables and Foibles of the Supreme Court: The Weird and Wild Decisions That Affect YOUR Life. It’s about ways the Supreme Court’s decisions on a particular case set a precedent for similar cases to follow, affecting our lives in the long run. There’s both humor and pathos in these decisions that shape our world. It was edited by friend Marissa Marchand and the cover was designed by friend Sherry Snider. Friends Margaret Schindel, Barbara Tremblay Cipak, Susan Deppner and Lorelei Cohen inspired, encouraged and helped me through the frustrations of creating and publishing. Many other friends, too numerous to name, some who didn’t even know I was writing a book, gave me strength and inspiration without even realizing it. I’m grateful for all of them. But I couldn’t have done this at all if it was not for my partner of 46 years, Judy Schweitzer. Yesterday was quite an exciting day for me. At the age of 76, I am a published author. For me that’s amazing to even think, much less to say.
UPDATE: February 16, 2016. The book has been updated, new material added, and some corrections made. I’ve also lowered the price and of course the book is free for members of Kindle Unlimited and also for Amazon Prime members. There may be a paper edition, but at present, it’s only available on Kindle.
Fables and Foibles of the Supreme Court: The Weird and Wild Decisions That Affect YOUR Life
Nancy, thanks kindly for the mention, although I was just saying to one of my offline friends today how much of an inspiration you are to me. You’re never give up, get’er done, find the bright side attitude about life is not often found and I’m privileged to be in your company. No bull here, I REALLY admire that about you. Congratulations on your first published book – if people only knew all you’ve been through (and a lot of it in this last year and several before that) they’de probably be picking their jaws up off of the ground! Way to go girl. !
Barbara, thanks so much. I get my inspiration every day when I touch base with you and the other three admins. I’ve never worked with people who are so enthusiastic about what they do. But you, my friend, you’re like a beaver working nonstop on building a dam, you just never quit! How could I NOT be inspired by your example? Thanks again, for all you do.
Nancy, thank you! We’re a great team I think!
Barbara, ABSOLUTELY!!!!
Congratulations Nancy on the successful publication of your first book. I am sure that it won’t be your only one. Best wishes my friend.
My dear Lorelei, bless you for all your encouragement and inspiration, but most of all for your friendship. Your comments always mean so much to me, because we share some common problems that we overcome in order to do what we do. Thanks my dear friend!! 🙂 <3
Nancy, congratulations. Great accomplishment. It’s at the top of my next reads list. I’m on Chapter 4 of my sequel, a little behind schedule. I stopped to read Daniel Silva’s latest book the English Spy. I learned a great deal about marketing I’d be happy to share with you. Send me an email when you want to chat.
Thanks Ed for the visit and for your comment! I knew you’d be hard at work on a sequel, I could almost taste it!! haha! I’m learning more about online marketing too, have so many things to delve into I don’t know where to start. Will be in touch, and thanks again!! 🙂
I bought and downloaded the book this afternoon. Please check the first few pages. There seam to be large font problem.
Look forward to talking with you.
Ed
Hi Ed, yes there is large type the first few pages. The problem was that when I uploaded to Kindle Direct Publishing, I had to do it in PDF form, because they don’t accept my Open Office Writer. I’m sure that’s what makes the type so large, but after that the book settles down. However, again because of the PDF, the page breaks aren’t where they’re supposed to be. I guess it’s a learning process for me, but thanks Ed for buying the book, I do appreciate it and hope you find it interesting and enjoyable.
Nancy, you are an amazing woman and I am proud to call you friend. This newest rung in your long ladder of impressive accomplishments is fantastic!!! I just purchased my very own copy and can’t wait to read it.
Margaret, my wonderful, sweet friend, thank you so much! I really hope you enjoy the book. As my first book attempt, I’m sure there are things I could’ve done better, but it’s at least a start. Thanks again! 🙂 <3
Nancy, I have no doubt at all that it’s wonderful. I’m looking forward with pleasure to reading it!
Nancy, I am so very proud of you! The book is excellent (as you will read in my review) and quite an amazing feat. I know there was a lot of stress involved getting it done – but YOU DID IT, my friend! Congratulations!
Susan, you are a dear lady and a wonderful friend. Thank you so much for this visit and for your excellent review! I guess stress is a part of the process, but oh my goodness, if I’d only known beforehand, I might not have attempted such a thing! But now, I’m glad I did! 😀 <3
