Show Your Mother-in-law You Love Her
Do you have a special relationship with your mother-in-law? Show her your love with a Mother’s Day gift for mother-in-law this Mother’s Day. After all, she gave you a priceless gift when she gave birth to your loved one. Instead of just adding your name to the gifts your spouse gives her, give her a gift just from you. She made it possible for you to marry the greatest man or woman on earth, she deserves something special. If she likes a day out visiting flower gardens, find a good one and take her there. If she is particularly fond of a restaurant, take her there for lunch. But there’s more and here are a few suggestions you might like.
Make It Special
A wonderful example of a unique gift is the one shown below, made in the United States from hardcover books saved from being destroyed. These books are a recycled project, that have been turned into something beautiful. This beautiful object comes complete with display stand. Each book is specially treated and put through a nine-step process by hand, so each one is “one-of-a-kind.” There are usually flowers and a poem on the open page, like the one shown here that shows a poem written for mothers-in-law by Judith Bond of Books of Love. It shows your mother-in-law how special she is to you.

Put Your Love On Display On The Wall
You don’t have to be a poet to give her a framed, beautifully illustrated poem. She’ll hang it in a place of honor on the wall where she sees your affection constantly. It’s also there for everyone to see how much you value and love her. Keepsakes like this mean a lot, because they’re not gone in a couple days, like a bouquet. If she has a blue day, it’s reassurance to see your poem telling her she’s loved. This touching poem about “My Other Mother” is double matted in dark blue over white and enhanced with watercolor graphics.

What About Houseplants?
If your mother-in-law loves plants, and you buy one for her, make it as unique as possible. Here’s one that’s unusual and it’s possible she doesn’t already have it. It’s called a Walking Blue Iris plant and she’s bound to treasure it. Whether you order it to be delivered directly to her or prefer to present it to her yourself, she’s going to be pleased. Personally I always like to give it so I can see the look on their face when I give them something they love. If you do too, have it sent to your house and then take it to her, maybe on the day you take her to lunch. Just the two of you.

Sadly, my MIL is no longer with us. But I know that of all the gifts I ever gave her, the one she loved best was a poem that I wrote and printed out with customized graphics. The personal touch really does count.
Yes it does Kyla, but not everyone is blessed with those talents. So for those who aren’t, these gifts would be perfect. I’m sorry for your loss my friend. Sounds like you really loved your late mother-in-law. Thanks for the visit and comment. 🙂 <3
Even though both my mothers-in-law are long departed this life, I just had to check out your post. I never knew the one. The other I loved nearly as dearly as my own mom and miss her to this day. I learned so much from her. Thank you for these sweet ideas for gifts. Garden plants and helping to plant them have always been my mom’s favorites to receive this time of year, and houseplants that bloom and flourish all year long a strong second, so I like that idea best, but that book is pretty keen too. Love that it’s made from recycled books!
Kathryn Grace, you are such a dear friend. I’m glad you like the gifts on my page. I think if you have a mother-in-law that you love, it’s only right to remember her on Mother’s Day. Even if a spouse sends her something, it would be lovely to make a personal effort to show your own feelings for her. I’m sorry your Mother-in-law you loved so much is gone, but isn’t it wonderful to have those great memories? Thanks my friend for the visit!
